Will high winds cause property damage in your area?
Both coastal and inland areas of the US are subject to damage from high winds. In coastal areas wind speeds up to 200 mph are possible and capable of causing catastrophic damage. Hurricanes can also generate and spin off tornados.
In some coastal areas the high degree of wind risk has caused insurers to offer special windstorm policies. Homeowner’s insurance policies often exclude coverage for wind and hail damage in these areas.
